Review

This is a Rose scent. Rose and Violet create a slightly powdery, slightly petally floral essence, and Cypriol adds a subtle smokiness that makes this feel like a grown-up Rose scent, but not ‘old’. The Cashmere Wood and Guaiac Wood add warmth and depth without making the blend too woody. The Caramel note creates a smoothness in the overall composition without adding any kind of Gourmand essence. There’s depth and a slightly mature vibe that make this scent feel elegant. If you love a good fruity floral Rose for daytime, then this is your date night scent. Your formal attire scent. You’re I-want-to-feel-sexy scent. While it is a very Rose forward scent, it is a Rose scent for anyone. It has a slight intimate feel to it that will make it sit a little closer to the skin, but it has lasting power. It is reminiscent of Opus X from the original Amouage Opus collection, and has been compared to Rose d’Arabie from Armani Prive.

Inspiration

New York 5th Avenue was inspired by the allure of Wintertime on 5th Avenue in New York City. The intrigue and excitement of being in such an iconic place, surrounded by high class society.

Notes

Bergamot adds a brightness to a subtly powdery blend of Rose and Violet. Cypriol adds a gentle smokiness that feels slightly sensual. Caramel and Vanilla lie just under the surface, breaking up any intensity you might expect from the addition of Cashmere Wood and Guaiac Wood. These woods add a nice warmth and depth that creates an inviting essence. The Caramel feels ever-so-slightly Caramely-ish, but it’s not a Caramel in the Gourmand sense. It adds to the velvety essence of the scent. Musk is felt towards the end, adding to the seductive twist of the overall feel.
