The Forward is a Citrusy, fresh, earthy scent created for Men and Women in 2023 by perfumer Christelle Laprade.

Review

This scent is fresh and slightly earthy with a salty essence to it. It begins brightly with Lemon, Mandarin, and Pomelo notes blending into Tonka Bean and Salt. Everything is warmed slowly and smoothly with Sandalwood and Cashmere Wool. It’s almost like having spent the whole day at the beach, the scents of the sea, sand, and lotion still on you as you warm up with a wool blanket. It is calming and gentle and earthy. This scent has a casual essence to it that can work formally and informally, in any weather and in any season. It has similarities to Millesime Imperial from Creed and Arethusa from Tiziana Terenzi, but with a bit more warmth.

Inspiration

The Soulmates collection is inspired by the pawn, known as the soul of Chess. The Forward takes its name from the move the pawn makes, only going forward throughout the game. 

Notes

This scent opens with the bright Citrus essences of Lemon, Mandarin, and Pomelo. Tonka Bean and Salt add an interesting, sweet warmth that turns gently earthy with Sandalwood and Cashmere Wool. Hints of Jasmine can be felt faintly throughout the drydown, and a touch of Vanilla in the base boosts the Tonka Bean gently. A calm warmth ensues as the notes meld together.
