Oud Luxuria is a Rose, Oud, Woody scent created for Men and Women in 2019 by perfumer Christian Carbonnel in collaboration with Steven Gavrielatos of Redolessence.

Review

This scent is rich and intense. It begins with an almost barnyard nuance, but quickly begins to mellow and soften. Rose stands side by side with the Oud throughout this composition, like a King and Queen standing above their subjects. Labdanum and Incense keeps the smoky essence of the Oud thriving, while additional spices and flowers keep the Rose boosted. Though the intensity calms down, this scent remains dank. It can be worn in the workplace, as long as you let it dry down for about 20-30 minutes before entering, and will work well for any cold weather occasion or event. It will work best in the Fall and Winter, helping to warm your senses. It is comparable to Amouage Epic Woman.

Inspiration

Luxuria translates to “Luxury” in Latin, and Oud Luxuria is quite luxurious. It is a carnal and rich Oud and Rose scent that seduces the senses in all its grandeur.

Notes

The base blasts its way to the top and opens this scent with Oud, Incense, and Labdanum paired with Turkish Rose. A second addition of Rose sits in the heart of this scent, paired with Jasmine, Osmanthus, and Geranium, all keeping the Turkish Rose lifted throughout the composition. As the richer notes begin to mellow, the softer notes in the opening can be detected. Orange livens up a spice blend of Pink Berries, Cinnamon, and Saffron. Amber and Musk from the base add another layer of warmth at the end to keep this scent lasting. Everything blends together perfectly and effortlessly.
